- Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park
Service Description
This wildlife and photography tour takes us through a beautiful oak forest early in the morning as we look for wild horses, deer, bobcats, owls and more. The forest opens up to a long grassy road that splits the prairie where we may encounter eagles, bison, osprey, wild horses and many many migratory birds such as large flocks of sandhill cranes. At the end of the grassy road is a low platform that we can see most of the beautiful prairie from. As we go back through the forest we will determine our next route. We can go north to see snail kites, alligators, eagles, osprey, and warblers, or we can go south to potentially see horses, bison, and some birds of prey including the elusive northern harrier. The hike is fairly easy on solid ground with few inclines or declines. $150 for private tours and $85/person for groups of 2 or more
